Overview

Umugi Cove is a lawless-looking but tightly controlled smuggler settlement on the western coast of Toyotama. It sits within Umugi Prefecture, but the name “Umugi Cove” properly refers to the coastal town itself rather than the entire surrounding territory. The wider prefecture contains separate roads, marshes, farms, enemy camps and points of interest that should not be folded into the settlement.

The cove becomes important during Act 2, when Jin Sakai searches for the pirate and shipwright Goro as part of A Message in Fire. It then serves as one of Toyotama’s main hubs for merchants, character tales, records, a Mythic Tale and several exploration activities. Its unusual rules also make it one of the safest settlements in the game: violence is forbidden inside the town, and Jin cannot draw his weapons there.
