Overview
The Abandoned Mine is a mission-only or primarily mission-bound route leading into Ishikari Castle in Ghost of Yōtei. Atsu and Jubei enter through the mine after learning from Mad Goro that it provides a concealed way into the castle. The route begins at the western coast, where Jubei waits by a campfire, and continues through a cave entrance, an abandoned mineshaft, a quarry and the outer approach to the Oni’s stronghold.
Although the location is called an abandoned mine, it is not empty. During The Tale of the Oni, the area contains Oni Raiders, enslaved Matsumae Clan samurai, old mining structures, climbable scaffolding and remnants of Mad Goro’s former camp. The mine is therefore both a traversal section and a combat arena, with its deepest areas functioning as a route into the castle rather than as a conventional free-roaming settlement.
