Overview

Azure Wind Shrine is a story-locked Shrine Climb in the northern part of Ishikari Plain in Ghost of Yōtei. Unlike most shrines, it is not a freely accessible mountain activity that can be completed whenever the player chooses. The approach, shrine grounds and associated cave route are reached during the Oni storyline, specifically the sub-mission Twin Wolves, Twin Hearts.

The shrine sequence follows Atsu, Jubei and Mad Goro through a hostile mountain route involving bounty hunters, a burning bridge, grappling sections, a cave and a short ritual area. After reaching the shrine, Atsu washes her hands, honours the shrine and receives access to the Oni’s Flame quickfire weapon ability before fighting through the escape route.

Azure Wind Shrine is easy to misunderstand because it behaves differently from the other Shrine Climbs. It is marked as a shrine activity in many guides, but the route is integrated into a main-story sequence and may not be available for ordinary free-roam revisits after the mission. Several player reports also describe confusion over whether it contributes to the shrine trophy count, although the available guide evidence consistently treats it as a story-completed shrine rather than a normal optional climb.
