Overview
Kushi Temple is a Buddhist temple in the Kushi area of Toyotama. It serves as the principal base for Norio, the warrior monk and one of Jin Sakai’s major allies. Unlike a settlement such as Umugi Cove or Akashima Village, Kushi Temple is not a general-purpose town with a full range of merchants and minigames. Its importance comes from its role in Norio’s character arc, its position as a defensible religious site, and its repeated transformation from a quiet temple into a battlefield.
The temple is associated chiefly with the Norio Tales, a chain of companion missions concerning the temple’s monks, stolen religious objects, Mongol attacks and Norio’s struggle with grief and vengeance. Several of these Tales begin at, return to, or are described in guides as taking place at Kushi Temple, even when their objectives lead into surrounding farms, roads or Mongol camps. The temple therefore needs to be distinguished from the wider Kushi region when recording locations and activities.
