Overview
The most likely source of the name is the real-world Abashiri Prison Museum, a preserved collection of Meiji-era prison buildings in Abashiri, Hokkaido. That site is distinct from the operating Abashiri Prison, and the museum buildings were relocated and preserved rather than left as untouched ruins.
Because Ghost of Yōtei takes place in 1603 Ezo, while the historical Abashiri Prison was opened in 1890, a direct one-to-one appearance would also require a deliberate fictional adaptation or a later-period setting. The available sources do not establish that such an adaptation exists in the game.
