Overview
Altars of Reflection are one of *Ghost of Yōtei*’s most valuable exploration activities. They are small devotional sites scattered throughout Ezo, often hidden behind waterfalls, inside caves, at the end of climbing routes, within liberated camps, or behind environmental puzzles. When Atsu bows at one, she can learn a new Technique.
There are 61 Altars of Reflection in the base game. The activity is spread across the main open-world regions, with a further altar associated with Mount Yōtei. Finding 30 is enough for the Moments of Reflection trophy, while finding 60 is sufficient to acquire every technique that requires altar progress, leaving one altar in reserve. The activity is not permanently missable: the altars can still be completed during post-story free roam.
The game does not treat every altar as an isolated shrine in the same way. Some are ordinary wilderness discoveries, some appear after liberating Yōtei Six Camps, and others are locked behind side tales, bounties, hideouts, animal puzzles, shamisen interactions or special traversal routes. Understanding those categories is more useful than simply following a numbered list.
