Overview

The Ashoro Foothills are a large expansion region in Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. They form a broad landscape of rivers, wooded slopes, marshland, waterfalls, cultivated ground and mountain settlements rather than a single compact landmark. The region’s central settlement is Ashoro Springs, but the foothills extend well beyond the town into several named subareas, including Howling Waters, Akan Woodlands, Shari Fields, Shrouded Claw, Blooming Trails, Lost Grove, Maoshoro River and the approaches to Mount Akan.

The area’s story follows Atsu and Nagato as they investigate the aftermath of the Snake’s defeat. The Vipers have lost their original leader but remain active, competing to control his food stores, money and territory. This gives Ashoro a different atmosphere from a normal liberated region. Much of its content concerns the collapse of an existing criminal network, the struggle to feed the local population and the emergence of rival Snake contenders.

Ashoro also acts as a self-contained activity region. It contains bounties, Viper Storehouses, Altars of Reflection, Bamboo Strikes, Hot Springs, a multi-stage cartographer quest, a longer multi-duel bounty and several named locations connected to the expansion’s story.
