Dead Man’s Tree is a small but useful location in the Tokachi Range, on the western side of Ohara Plains. Its main importance is practical rather than geographical: it is the permanent base of Taro the Scavenger, one of Atsu’s recurring vendors and travelling associates.

The site is also tied to the side tale The Loss We Carry. During that quest, Atsu travels to Dead Man’s Tree to recover Toku’s Charm of Blessings from Taro. The meeting turns hostile when Saito’s soldiers arrive, making the tree one of the first places where Taro’s scavenging work directly catches up with him.

Although the name suggests a large landmark or a broad subregion, the available evidence supports a much narrower interpretation. Dead Man’s Tree is a named point of interest and vendor site within Ohara Plains, rather than the name of the entire plain, a settlement, or an independent regional district.
