Overview

Kensei is the Ghost Weapon set. Its third perk is the interesting one: hitting someone with a Ghost Weapon makes them hit softer and take more.

The set raises Resolve gain by 15–30% and Ghost Weapon damage by 15–30%, and — at its upgraded tiers — causes enemies struck by a Ghost Weapon to deal 25–50% less damage and take 25–50% more. That last effect turns kunai and bombs from openers into a genuine damage multiplier for everything that follows.

It is gated behind the hardest content in the base game. The Six Blades of Kojiro is six consecutive duels, which is a fitting price for the set that most rewards fighting on your own terms.

The Ghost Weapon set. Note it raises Resolve GAIN rather than cutting technique cost — a distinction worth getting right, because it changes how you spend.

Builds & Best Uses

Strengths

  • Faster Resolve gain means more healing and more techniques
  • The strongest set for kunai, bombs and other Ghost Weapons
  • The damage-taken debuff amplifies everything you follow up with

Weaknesses

  • Weak if you rarely use Ghost Weapons
  • Locked behind the hardest Mythic Tale, so it arrives late for most players
  • No stealth or detection benefit

Best uses

  • Ghost Weapon-centric builds
  • Opening a fight with kunai, then converting the debuff into melee damage

Upgrading it

Armour is improved at an armourer, paid for in linen, silk and leather gathered from the world and from tale rewards. Every set states its effects as a range, and the upper figure is what the set does only once it is fully upgraded — an unupgraded set is materially weaker than its description suggests.
