Overview

Asahidake Ropeway is a real-world aerial lift serving Mount Asahidake in Daisetsuzan National Park, Hokkaidō. It connects Asahidake Onsen with Sugatami Station, taking roughly ten minutes in one direction. The ropeway is used by hikers, sightseers and winter visitors travelling towards the upper slopes of Asahidake.

It should not currently be treated as a named location in Ghost of Yōtei. The game is set in Ezo in 1603, while the documented game map is organised into regions such as Yotei Grasslands, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Ishikari Plain, Teshio Ridge, Oshima Coast and the smaller Mount Yotei side area. None of the consulted game guides identifies an Asahidake Ropeway, an Asahidake Onsen settlement or a Sugatami Station within those boundaries.

The most likely explanation is a real-world inspiration mix-up. Both Ghost of Yōtei and Asahidake belong to the broader Hokkaidō landscape, but that does not establish that the ropeway appears in the game. The game’s setting is fictionalised and uses its own geography rather than reproducing modern Hokkaidō’s transport network.
