Overview
There is no reliable evidence that Notoro Lake is a canonical location in the base game of Ghost of Yōtei. It does not appear in the official PlayStation descriptions consulted for the game’s world, characters, activities or regions, and the major current region and activity guides reviewed do not identify it as an in-game lake or subarea. The game is set in a fictionalised version of Ezo, rather than reproducing Hokkaidō as a one-to-one geographical map.
The most likely source of the confusion is the real-world Lake Notoro, also called Lake Notori or Notoro Lagoon. That lake is a coastal lagoon near Abashiri on the northern shore of Hokkaidō. It is a real geographical feature, but its existence in Hokkaidō does not establish its presence in Ghost of Yōtei.
A second possibility is that “Notoro Lake” is an incorrect name for one of the game’s fictional lakes. Current guides refer to several named bodies of water, including the Great Lake, Sarobetsu Lake, Lake Shikotsu, Lake Jozan and Yubari Lake. The Great Lake is particularly easy to confuse with an unnamed or misremembered lake because it forms an important transition route between the Tokachi Range and Nayoro Wilds.
