Overview

Kiritappu Wetland is a real protected wetland in Hamanaka, Akkeshi District, eastern Hokkaidō. It is not currently verified as a location in the base game of Ghost of Yōtei. The real wetland is sometimes written as Kiritappu Marsh or Kiritappu-shitsugen, and the Japanese name is 霧多布湿原.

The real-world site is a broad coastal wetland rather than a single small landmark. It covers approximately 3,168 hectares, stretches for roughly 9 kilometres, and is around 3 kilometres wide. The central peatland is approximately 803 hectares and was nominated as a natural monument in 1922. The wetland was registered as a Ramsar site in 1993.

The available Ghost of Yōtei regional material instead identifies major playable areas such as the Yōtei Grasslands, Teshio Ridge, Ishikari Plain, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds and Oshima Coast. None of the consulted sources identifies Kiritappu Wetland as a subarea, settlement, landmark or optional region within those areas.
