Overview

Ginji is *Ghost of Yōtei*’s principal armorer. He belongs to Atsu’s Wolf Pack and provides armour upgrades, appearance changes and armour dyes as the story opens up new regions. Unlike a normal shopkeeper fixed to one settlement, Ginji relocates between several major hubs across Ezo. His position therefore has two layers: his first permanent base, at Yōtei’s Shadow Inn in the Yōtei Grasslands, and a set of later regional locations that become useful as Atsu travels farther from Mount Yōtei.

Ginji is also tied to one of the game’s notable armour rewards. In Oshima Coast, speaking to him at Benten Port begins the Sensei Tale Pride Before Tea, which awards Ginji’s Guard Armour after Atsu helps him recover equipment from a tea house occupied by Saito’s soldiers.

Ginji is best understood as a mobile regional service NPC, not as a single location. His workshop relocates as Atsu’s journey advances, allowing armour maintenance without requiring the player to return to the opening area. The five reported locations are all situated in significant hubs, usually beside an inn, market or forge rather than in an isolated camp.

His services become important because armour in Ghost of Yōtei is more than visual equipment. Armour sets grant passive effects, and upgrading them improves those effects. Some sets are gained automatically through the story, while others come from quests, exploration or special encounters. PowerPyx reports that the game contains 12 armour sets in the base collection and that armour upgrades improve their passive bonuses.

Ginji should therefore be visited whenever you obtain a new set, reach a new region or collect enough money and materials for another upgrade tier.
