Overview
Shiretoko Goko Lakes, also known as the Shiretoko Five Lakes, are a real-world group of five lakes in Shiretoko National Park, Hokkaidō. The site is known for its primeval forest, views towards the Shiretoko Mountain Range, wildlife and brown-bear habitat. The real location has two principal visitor routes: an elevated wooden path and a ground pathway.
The game’s documented playable world is centred on the environs of Mount Yōtei rather than on the whole of modern Hokkaidō. Available regional guides identify areas such as Yōtei Grasslands, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Ishikari Plain, Teshio Ridge and Oshima Coast, with Mount Yōtei treated separately as a side area. Shiretoko Goko Lakes is not listed among those confirmed regions in the available base-game directories.
