The base game is set in Ezo, in 1603, around Mount Yōtei. Its open world is divided into six major regions: Yōtei Grasslands, Ishikari Plain, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Teshio Ridge and Oshima Coast. A small Mount Yōtei side area is also treated separately by several guides.
