Overview

Ghost of Yōtei is set in Ezo in 1603, roughly three centuries after Ghost of Tsushima. Its open world is divided into six principal regions: Yōtei Grasslands, Ishikari Plain, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Teshio Ridge and Oshima Coast. The available sources also identify Mount Yōtei as a smaller side area reached from the Yōtei Grasslands.

The game contains a large number of spiritually themed locations, including Altars of Reflection, shrines, special places and other sites used for exploration activities. An Altar of Reflection is not simply a scenic landmark. It is a progression point where Atsu bows and learns a technique from the Onryō, Melee or Revenge branches.

No reliable source consulted establishes that one of these locations is officially called Ancient Altar of Ezo. The title may therefore refer to a location that has not been documented by the major accessible guides, or to a translated name that differs from the game’s English terminology.
