Overview
Lake Akan is not currently supported as a named base-game location in Ghost of Yōtei. The base game is set in a fictionalised version of Ezo, the region corresponding broadly to modern Hokkaido, with the playable world organised around Mount Yōtei and six principal regions: Yōtei Grasslands, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Ishikari Plain, Teshio Ridge and Oshima Coast.
The real Lake Akan lies in eastern Hokkaido, far from Mount Yōtei. It is a notable lake associated with Mount Oakan, Ainu heritage and marimo algae, but the presence of an Akan-like landscape or a later reference to Mount Akan does not establish that the real lake is represented as a playable Ghost of Yōtei location.
The available evidence also distinguishes the base game from the later Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. Official PlayStation material describes the expansion as adding a previously unseen valley and a new area of Ezo, but does not identify that area as Lake Akan.
